This new book by Paul Kennedy, released in late 2013, looks at the supports systems and how plans were implemented by mid level "managers" in World War II and how the capacity to learn from  setbacks led to victory by the Allies. This is a book about executiing strategy with excellence and is a must-read for anyone leading projects.
